From April 2021 we are delighted to be able to welcome you to our new Running Hub at Hiltingbury Sports Hall, designed specifically around the needs of runners.
As a UKA Endurance Coach and S&C Coach, Mike specialises in supporting athletes in their strength & conditioning programmes and has supported some of the top UK athletes.
For runners, going into a gym environment can feel an alien experience and would rather be outside putting in some more miles but time focused on strength work can support runners to be able to train more frequently and with higher intensity. Strength training for runners needs to be specific and support development of the key muscle groups we utilise when we run.
Mike has a strong track record in supporting athletes to get stronger and run personal bests from middle distance track runners through to marathon runners and Iron Man triathletes.
To find out how we can help get in touch to discuss your needs and arrange an initial consultation and assessment session.
“I worked with Mike to build strength and reduce my risk of injury whilst training for the London Marathon. It worked! I managed 20 weeks of training with no injuries and feel fitter and stronger than ever!!
I wanted someone specifically experienced in running, rather than a general PT, and Mike’s background made him the ideal choice. As well as the physical exercises, I appreciated being able to discuss my wider training, and his belief in me lifted my confidence.
The strength training, combined with the running mileage I did, meant I started the race relaxed & with an “I can do this” attitude – and finished it happy I’d done my best!! Thanks Mike 😊💪🏃🏼♀️

“I have been working with Mike now for 6 months wanting to improve my strength and conditioning whilst running. Having been a runner for a number of years, strength and conditioning was always something that scared me. I thoroughly enjoy my sessions with Mike, he guides me through each exercise and explains exactly where I should be working. My running has come on leaps and bounds, my form has changed and I am a lot stronger. Having a PT who understands what is needed for runners is key and Mike knows his stuff! Fun sessions and some fantastic results”

“I love coming to circuits each week and I struggle to imagine not doing it in the future. I feel strong, flexible, empowered. I have listened and taken on board what I have learned about nutrition during the sessions and improved my diet for the longer term. I look at the things I can do now (like hanging from that bar, or doing Australian chin ups) and I would never have believed that I could ever be able to do those things. This year, as you know, I ran my first 10km ever, and Small Group Training has contributed to that through strength and determination and encouragement. So thank you!”
